Terry enjoys working with acrylic and oils to portray on canvas a visual diary created from memories of places visited, lives touched and nature enjoyed. Originally from the San Francisco area, Terry relocated to Oregon in 2003 and now resides in Redmond, Oregon. After a career in telecommunications he is now continuing his artistic journey full time . Although he considers himself mostly self taught, he benefited greatly from an arts education from wonderful instructors at City College of San Francisco.
Through his paintings he hopes to elicit an emotional connection and a sense of mystery from his viewers. Terry says “I try to portray every day's anonymous but eternal moments that are so easily missed but are still part of a universal story – the poetry of the eternal and the fleeting”. His abstracted use of light, shadow and reflections are heavily influenced by artists such as Edward Hopper, John Singer Sargent and Maynard Dixon. He relishes the challenge with each new painting of turning an abstract idea to a coherent expression on canvas.
Terry is enjoying exploring his new environs in the beautiful central Oregon area and has been exhibiting his works at different local venues. He has previously exhibited his work at galleries in San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland and Corvallis, Oregon. His work is available online at www.tsolini.com.
"To me one of the greatest gifts gained from painting is the rediscovery of the world that we tend to ignore everyday . My subjects are whatever is around the urban street corner or beyond the bend of a mountain stream. I consider my works representational but hope to have the viewer to connect to my paintings with personal recognition and also mystery."
